To lay out the future directions and goals for practice pharmacists and to raise the overall standard of Taiwan’s pharmacy practice, Taiwan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP) has begun establishing TSHP 2020 Initiative since 2008. It is modeled after the developing trends of the ASHP
2015 Initiative, CSHP 2015 Initiative, and the British Pharmacy 2020, etc. The TSHP 2020 initiative includes seven goals and 33 objectives and is applicable to pharmacists in all settings-hospital, community pharmacy, and ambulatory clinics.
To reach the goals successively, the TSHP has subsequently established the methodologies to execute in 2009, with considerations for all institutions and individuals at each level, which include introductory planning for the entry level, extension and expansion for the experienced level, and outcome assessment and analysis for the advanced level. To clearly define goals for the practice pharmacists, it is expected the Initiative will be revised annually during implementation with its targets and devise related measures in accordance with new developments and changes in global trends. The only ways to achieve the goals are to joint pharmacists’ efforts continually, to upgrade professional capability, and to elevate service quality across the nation. Ultimately, it is to promote pharmacists’ image and to reach the pharmacy care of “patient-centered services” providing high quality of individual designed well-being plan.
