本篇文章主要藉由臨床藥師參與外傷科加護病房的醫療照護，執行直接照顧病患的工作。在為期6個月時間裡，共提出378件介入活動，醫師對藥師介入活動的接受度為90.7％（343件）。藥師所提供之介入活動內容，可區分為八大項目，其中以「建議改變藥物治療的內容」的比率居高，佔46.9％（161件）。已被接受的介入活動中有246筆（71.7％）處方歸屬於開方疏失，並以「不當的劑量」居多，佔49.6％。探討開方疏失對於藥物費用的影響，發現可節省的藥物費用支出為47,174元；這些開方疏失的異常處方依藥物目的類別區分，以抗感染方面藥物居多，佔50％（節省的支出高達39,891元）。由此可知，藥師從事藥事照顧的工作，確實可以降低藥物費用的支出，並讓臨床藥學的推動更具意義。

The value of pharmacist providing pharmaceutical care in a trauma intensive care unit is described.  During a period of 6 months, the clinical pharmacist provided 378 interventions.  Overall, "modifying the drug therapy" accounts for 46.9% of the services provided.  More than 90% of recommendations made by the pharmacist were accepted; 71.7% were related to physician prescribing errors.  Among those prescribing errors, 49.6% were classified as "inappropriate dose".  Estimated drug cost saving by providing interventions to those prescribing errors was NT$ 47,174.  Fifty percent of the errors resulted from the inappropriate use of antimicrobial agents with a cost savings of up to NT$ 39,891 upon correction.  The investigators have demonstrated and conclude that pharmaceutical care can significantly reduce the cost of medications by correction of prescribing errors.
