抗 精 神 病 藥 物 惡 性 症 候 群(neuroleptic malignant syndrome，NMS)是一種不常見但會危及生命的特異性反應，其症狀包括發高燒、肌肉僵硬、自主神經失調、精神混亂及意識改變，此常 見於傳統 典型抗精 神病 藥物的治 療(如 haloperidol)，而新一代非典型抗精神病藥物，引起 NMS  案例報告較少見。

本文是描述一位 79  歲精神科病患使用非典型抗精神病藥物 quetiapine，三天後突然出現高燒不退、四肢顫抖及肌肉僵硬等症狀，臨床醫師懷疑該病人可能為quetiapine 引起的 NMS，在立即停藥及支持療法後，病人症狀即獲得緩解。
 

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a rare, but life-threatening idiosyncratic adverse reaction. The NMS signs and symptoms are characterized by hyperthermia, muscular rigidity, autonomic dysfunction, confusion and altered mental status. The conventional antipsychotic agents, such as haloperidol,are more frequently associated with NMS.However,few cases of new atypical antipsychotic agents induced NMS have  been reported.We described a  psychotic case of a seventy-nine year-old man given quetiapine. Three days later, he displayed symptoms of hyperthermia, tremor and muscular rigidity, etc. Quetiapine-induced NMS was suspected by the clinical physician. After discontinuing this drug and receiving supported care, the condition gradually improved.
